The French police has reportedly discovered Al Qaeda's plan to strike the Eiffel Tower and Louvre museum in France.

According to stuff.co.nz, the revelation was made after the police discovered a series of messages detailing the plan, exchanged between a 29-year-old Algerian, Ali M, living in France and one of the key Al Qaeda members.

Ali was also asked by Al Qaeda to travel to Algeria for military training. He was supposed to come back to France after the training was over, plan the attack and wait for instructions from the jihadi outfit.

However, he was nabbed by the French police a month before he was scheduled to leave for Algeria, the report added.

The arrest came in the backdrop of the introduction of tougher anti-terror laws in France by the country's Interior Minister Manuel Valls. One of the laws bans people from leaving the nation if they are suspected of involvement in any kind of fighting in Iraq or Syria.

The report also said that other possible targets in France included, markets, night clubs, commercial flights, nuclear power plants and police patrols.
