France emerged victorious in their second match of Group E with a crushing victory of 5-2 over Switzerland in their FIFA World Cup encounter, virtually assuring them of qualification for the second round.
France blasted two goals within 66 seconds as striker Olivier Giroud headed the squad into the lead after 17 minutes followed by a second almost straight from the restart by Blaise Matuidi.
According to Sport24, midfielder Mathieu Valbuena provided the third goal for France in the 40th minute followed by two more goals from Karim Benzema and Moussa Sissoko in the 67th and 73rd minute.
Switzerland was saved from a humiliating five to nothing defeat, thanks to the goals scored by Blerim Dzemaili and Granit Xhaka in the 81st and 87th minute respectively for the Swiss.
France currently has six points and a goal difference of plus six and looks well placed to advance after going out in the group stage four years ago when they finished bottom.
