Delhi Law Minister Jitender Singh Tomar on Tuesday tendered his resignation from his post, shortly after being sent to four-day police custody in connection with the alleged fake degree case.

Delhi Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia said Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal had accepted Tomar's resignation.

"Jitendra Singh Tomar put in his papers a while back. Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal has accepted the resignation. We shall forward his resignation letter to the LG tomorrow morning," said Sisodia.

Tomar was arrested by Delhi Police this morning and taken to the Hauz Khas police station in connection with a fake degree row.

He had been facing allegations of submitting forged education certificates while filing his nomination for the Delhi Assembly polls.

Meanwhile, the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) alleged that Lieutenant Governor Najeeb Jung, the Delhi Police and the Prime Minister Narendra Modi-led NDA Government at the Centre were trying to 'scare' the city's government by using court cases and arrests.
