Netherlands boss Louis van Gaal has said that he is not sure if Manchester United would make him their new manager after all.
Speculations were that Van Gaal had already agreed to take over at Old Trafford after his coaching job for the Holland national team at the forthcoming World Cup is over.
However, the Dutchman has revealed that he has not agreed to join United and may end up never taking charge of the club, Metro.co.uk reported.
Van Gaal said that he has not reached the stage of signing a contract yet with United, adding that it is not even clear if they would reach that stage.
The former Barcelona, Ajax, Bayern Munich and AZ coach said that some of the things that have been suggested about him taking charge of United are absolutely untrue.
Media reports have suggested that United's expected announcement of Van Gaal's arrival this week has been put off with the two parties still thrashing out terms, the report added.
