Universal Studio's 'Furious 7', who has already crossed the 1 billion dollars mark at the worldwide box-office, is still going strong and is racing ahead of new releases.
Nick Carpou, president of domestic distribution for Universal, said that there were a lot of ways to measure success and 'Furious 7' was one of those films that there's a big franchise fan base for and it was growing, Deadline.com reported.
The car-action franchise is expected to end the weekend with right around 29 million dollars with total of 294.4 million dollars earnings.
The new release namely SONY's 'Paul Blart Mall Cop 2' grabbed the second position with earnings between 23.6 million dollars and 24 million dollars, whereas, 'Unfriended' has secured the third position with 16 million dollars earnings in its first week.
