G. Mohan Kumar appointed Defence Secretary

The Appointments Committee of the Cabinet has approved the appointment of G. Mohan Kumar as Defence Secretary in the Ministry of Defence for a period of two years from the date of his taking over the charge of the post.

G. Mohan Kumar, a 1979-batch IAS officer, will take over from 1977-batch IAS officer Radha Krishna Mathur on his retirement.

The Appointments Committee of the Cabinet has approved appointment of 1981-batch IAS officer Ashok Kumar Gupta, who is Special Secretary in the Department of Defence Production as Secretary, Department of Defence Production, vice Mohan Kumar on his relinquishing the charge of the post.

 

The Appointments Committee of the Cabinet has also approved the extension of tenure of Dr. T.C.A. Anant, Chief Statistician of India (CSI)-cum-Secretary, Ministry of Statistics and Programme Implementation beyond June 26, 2015, subject to clearance of his parent organization, until he attains the age of 60 years, i.e. the age of normal superannuation in Government of India.
