Union Transport Minister Nitin Gadkari on Friday launched the Electronic Toll Collection system for the Delhi-Mumbai Highway.
"In this new system, there can be no fake tolls. The data will be recorded so there can be no stealing. There would be all the information of the driver, on the toll card," said Gadkari.
"We have tied up with two banks that is Axis and ICICI bank today. More banks can also come. In the coming time, this system will get revolutionalised. This is our step towards a digital India. I have given orders that before March, there should be over 350 tolls," he added.
The Electronic Toll Collection systems have already been installed at 55 toll plaza. Their integration with Central Clearing House (CCH) operators has almost been completed on the Delhi-Mumbai route via Haryana, Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh, Gujarat and Maharashtra.
