Union Transport Minister Nitin Gadkari and Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh both evaded questions here today about reports of bugging devices found in Gadkari's Teen Murti Lane home.
Law minister Ravi Shankar Prasad, too, refused to comment on the bugging row.
Kiren Rijiju, Union Minister of State for Home Affairs of India, however, said, "We can't act or comment on something which is very speculative in nature. There is nothing to say about this."
Meanwhile, the Samajwadi Party's Naresh Agarwal questioned the government's silence over the "serious issue".
He told ANI, "It is a serious matter. Why is the government silent? There is a distance between the government and the people. There is a lack of trust. It is such a big issue, why is the BJP silent on this? Government should give a statement on the bugging row in Parliament, it will be better if Gadkari himself answers in the House."
Gadkari had earlier rubbished reports of bugging devices found inside his house.
