The employees of GAIL (India) Limited have voluntarily contributed one day's salary for relief and rehabilitation work in disaster-hit Uttarakhand.
The contribution to the Prime Minister's Relief Fund was handed over to Union Minister for Petroleum and Natural Gas Dr. M. Veerappa Moily by GAIL Chairman and Managing Director B. C. Tripathi here yesterday.
Apart from this, GAIL has contributed Rs two crore to the Chief Minister's Relief Fund as an immediate measure as part of its Corporate Social Responsibility initiative for Uttarakhand where thousands lost their lives and many more were injured and rendered homeless by the flash floods last month.
The GAIL employees contributed Rs 92.25 lakhs from their salaries to aid relief and rehabilitation work in the state.
