The daughter of farmer Gajendra Singh on Thursday said she held the Aam Aadmi Party responsible for her father's death, adding that the party's leaders were busy giving speeches when her father was trying to hang himself.

"I hold AAP responsible for this; their speeches were still going on when my father was trying to hang himself. He wasn't ready to take any such step," Gajendra's daughter Megha told ANI.

"I want the government to bear the expenses of our education and provide us government jobs," she added.

The issue of the farmer's suicide rocked Parliament today after the matter was raised by Trinamool Congress members and supported by other opposition parties including Samajwadi Party, Left and Congress.

Additionally, Mallikarjun Kharge of Congress demanded a judicial inquiry into the incident and also questioned the role of Delhi Police during the incident.

Delhi Police Commissioner B.S. Bassi also met Home Minister Rajnath Singh over the matter and submitted a report on the incident.

The incident has also led to criticism for Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal, with opposition parties condemning that his rally went on despite the grave incident.

Kejriwal and his party, however, blamed the Delhi police for inaction.
