Shiv Sena Member of Parliament (MP) Sanjay Raut today, condemned Congress President Sonia Gandhi for saying that a court summoning Congress vice president Rahul Gandhi and herself in connection with the National Herald case, smacked of 'political vindictiveness' by the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP)-led National Democratic Alliance Government.

"Revenge word does not suit Sonia Gandhi and her party, because revenge politics was started by them only. But, if the court has sent them a summons in the National Herald case, then they should respect the court. If they don't do it, then it will be contempt of court. They should respect law and order and keep their point in the court. Saying that the Modi Government has taken revenge or its political vindictiveness is wrong," said Raut.

However, Congress leader Rajiv Shukla criticised the government for troubling the Gandhi family over the National Herald case and said that this kind of politics will definitely change

Last month, Sonia and Rahul Gandhi were issued summons by a Delhi court in connection with the National Herald newspaper case. They have been asked to appear personally in court on August 7.

BJP leader Subramanian Swamy had filed a complaint on the charge that the Gandhis have swindling the newspaper's funds.
