Addressing the Textile Conclave 2013, the Chairman of the Apparel Export Promotion Council (AEPC), Dr. A. Sakthivel, said that India's garment exports would be touching 60 billion dollars by 2016.

He also identified shortfall of labour as one of the biggest bottlenecks to garment export growth.

"We are getting good orders and have won the confidence of buyers. As a brand, India is recognized everywhere, but the challenge is translating that leverage into a world textile hub," he said.

"We are looking for skilled people in large numbers to meet these challenges," he added.

The conclave was inaugurated by Union Textiles Minister Dr. K.S. Raoe in presence of Textiles Secretary Textiles Zohra Chatterji and textile industry stakeholders.
