Pakistan legend Hanif Mohammad has praised prolific former Indian batsman Sunil Gavaskar, calling him the 'real Little Master'.
According to The Dawn, Hanif, known as the Little Master of cricket, magnanimously conferred the honour on the Indian icon, who called him to inquire about his health and wished him a speedy recovery from his battle with cancer.
Stating that he was 'highly impressed' with Gavaskar's gesture, Hanif said that in reality, Gavaskar is the Little Master number one, adding that he only comes next in the list after the former Indian opening batsman.
According to Hanif's son, his father had received several calls from the former cricketers and well wishers during his rehabilitation in London, adding that Gavaskar, Rameez Raja, Zaheer Abbas, Sarfraz Nawaz, Asif Masood, Asif Iqbal have all called to inquire after his father while England legends Geoffrey Boycott, Mike Brearely and the MCC have also sent messages and flowers for Hanif.
Meanwhile, Hanif mentioned that he feels much better after his operation, adding that he will be seeing a surgeon once next week before returning to Karachi.
