West Indies swashbuckling opener Chris Gayle has criticized West Indies Cricket Board for omitting Dwayne Bravo and Kieron Pollard from the upcoming World Cup squad, describing the move as victimization towards them.

Bravo and Pollard caught the ire of the selectors following a pay dispute that led to the abandonment of October's tour of India.

Gayle, who grabbed the Man of the Match for his blistering knock against South Africa in the second T20, said that there was no way one could tell him those guys shouldn't be in the team, adding that it had got to be victimization towards those two guys, the BBC reported.

Describing the move as ridiculous, Gayle further said that he didn't know where their cricket was heading with that sort of situation. Building for the next World Cup [in 2019] was ridiculous, he added.

West Indies will open their World Cup campaign against Ireland in New Zealand on 16 February.
