United Nations Secretary General Ban Ki-moon has called for peace talks between Palestine and Israel and urged the two sides to stop violence.

According to BBC, more than 600 Palestinians and 30 Israelis have died in the battle in the last two weeks.

U.S. secretary of State John Kerry said that a ceasefire should start immediately.

The last recorded death toll of Palestinians by Gaza's health ministry was 600 while 3,640 people were injured.

The UN relief agency said a school had been hit by Israeli shelling in Gaza where 300 people had been taking shelter.
