Former wife of Ex-England international Paul Gascoigne, popularly known as Gazza, is furious that the midfielder has failed to stay off alcohol after his friends paid for him to undergo rehab in the US last year.
A close pal reportedly revealed that Sheryl Gascoigne has lost all sympathy for Gazza and recently blasted that the rehab was all paid for and the former Tottenham Hotspur midfielder threw it back in their faces.
There were fresh fears for Gazza last week after he suffered his latest booze meltdown and was taken to hospital. Onlookers called 999 after seeing him slumped against a wall after buying gin and beer near his home in Sandbanks, Dorset, The Daily Star reported.
Just 18 months ago pals including Welsh former footballer Chris Evans and ex-English footballer Gary Lineker stepped in to help Gazza get emergency treatment for his addiction. They donated around 1,00,000 pounds for him to stay at a rehab clinic in Arizona in a bid to save his life.
During his stay he was rushed to intensive care and went into a three-day coma. But Gazza was back on the booze within weeks of leaving the clinic and he was spotted on Friday lighting a cigarette in the grounds of Poole General Hospital in Dorset.
A source close to Sheryl said that she is absolutely furious that Gazza didn't try harder to keep his drinking under control, and added that the former England star's friends went all out to save him and she's so angry that he threw it back at them so he could go back on the booze.
Just four months after his stay in Arizona Gazza was arrested following a bust-up with Sheryl at a railway station and faced a conviction for assaulting her but she later dropped the charges.
And in January this year it was reportedly revealed that Gazza was back in rehab at a clinic in Southampton where stay cost around 6,000 pounds-a-month.
Sheryl has told friends that she feels being close to Gazza is a constant battle and fears that he will never beat his demons. The source added that she is the only person who has really stood by Gazza through everything.
The source revealed that to this day Sheryl still looks after Gazza, but added that she is secretly fed-up.
