Gaggles of geese are helping Chinese police force fight crime, it has been claimed.
The winged warriors are being preferred over dogs as the animal of assistance in the province of Xinjiang, the New York Daily News reported.
According to China police bosses, the tough birds are more reliable than canines in tackling lawlessness and are also "harder" for criminals to neutralize than a single pup.
Zhang Quansheng, a police chief in Xinjiang's Shawan county told the publication that among all poultry, geese are known for being extremely vigilant and having excellent hearing.
He said that geese are very brave and they spread their wings and will attack any strangers entering someone's home.
