The historical documents' auction house, Profiles in History, which conducted the process, initially expected the Model 1873 single-action revolver to fetch over 60,000 dollars, Fox News has reported.

The revolver, which was acquired by the famous World War II general around 1928 until his death in 1945, had distinctive stag horn grip and is often considered to be a version of the General's famous ivory-handled Colt. 45.
