George Clooney popped the question to his lawyer girlfriend Amal Alamuddin over a home-cooked dinner at his home in Los Angeles, it has been revealed.
A source told the New York Post that the 52-year-old actor prepared a meal for the UK barrister and got down on his knee as he presented her with a personally designed 7-carat diamond ring.
Clooney was thrilled that she accepted and called his friends later to announce his engagement, the insider asserted.
The Oscar winner wants to get married to 36-year-old Alamuddin, who's an adviser to former UN Secretary-General Kofi Annan, by early September, before she returns to work, the source added.
