George RR Martin heas released a new book which tells the back story of 'Game of Thrones' fictional kingdom Westeros.
The 300-page book titled The World of Ice and Fire: The Untold History of Westeros and the Game of Thrones, features text by the 66-year-old writer, as well as illustrations from a range of fantasy artists, including Iron Throne painter Marc Simonetti, the Independent reported.
Martin said that he didn't expect the book, which has been described as "lavishly illustrated" by Amazon, to be so big, and said that it explained the thousands of years of history surrounding Westeros, Essos and the other nearby and faraway lands.
The author added that the readers would find new religions introduced and learn how to birth a dragon.
However, Martin is yet to release the sixth novel, The Winds of Winter, in the series of his A Song of Ice and Fire, which have adapted to television as one of the biggest hit shows.
