With the European community on high alert following the 13/11 Paris carnage, a friendly soccer match between Germany and the Netherlands in Hanvover was abruptly called off following a bomb scare.
According to the Washington Post, the match that was to be attended by German Chancellor Angela Merkel to show support for the 13/11 victims, was stopped as authorities went into overdrive responding to the reported bomb threat.
Hanover Police Chief Volker Kluwe told the media that they had received a 'concrete' tip than an explosives attack had been planned against the stadium where the match was scheduled, following which a safe evacuation was successfully executed, the daily reported.
Nevertheless, the fear among the people of another attack on a crowded public place was evident with the swift action that was taken.
Earlier, in Brussels, a soccer match scheduled for Tuesday between Belgium and Spain was also cancelled.
Massive raids are being conducted to capture suspect fugitive Salah Abdeslam, who is wanted by the police following the deaths of 129 people in the Paris terror attacks on Friday.
Also, French President Francois Hollande vowed to escalate the airstrikes on the ISIS stronghold in Raqqa, Syria and declared war on the terror outfit.
