The Goa Customs on Thursday recovered 450 grams of gold in powder form from a passenger at the Goa International Airport.
A statement of the customs department read, "While performing duties, the officers of Goa Customs intercepted one international passenger who arrived by Oman Air. Further, the search of the passenger's handbag led to the recovery of six transparent plastic pouches containing a brown coloured substance in powdered form having gold weighing 450 grams."
The statement alleged that the intention behind the gold smuggle was to evade customs duty. Further investigation is under progress.
