ANI Panaji

The Goa Sports Ministry announced here today that the Brazil trip of six MLAs to attend the FIFA World Cup 2014 has been cancelled.

A television channel, which had placed the Goa Government in the dock for reportedly going ahead with a plan to fund the junket trip of the MLAs, forced the latter to first say that the MLAs would go on their expense, then say that corporates would sponsor their trip, and then finally announced that the trip has been cancelled altogether.

The junket included Goa Sports Minister Ramesh Tawadkar, Fisheries Minister Avertano Furtado, Power Minister Milind Naik, Vasco legislator Carlos Almeida, Velim legislator Benjamin Silva and Aldona legislator Glen Ticlo.
