Goa Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar on Wednesday ensured that justice will be done in the sexual assault case filed against recused Tehelka editor Tarun Tejpal, and said the job of the government is to prosecute the charges levelled against the latter in the case.
"I will ensure justice, even to Tejpal. Justice does not mean punishing someone. It is upto the court to decide on this. The government's job is to investigate the issue, and if it has enough evidence, then only it is prosecuted," he told media here today.
Responding to allegations of Tarun Tejpal, that he is being framed in the case, he said, "The girl sent e-mail to Shoma Choudhary and Tarun Tejpal alleging sexual assault. After that, he issued emails, one for his apology, and, other for his 'sansyas' of six months. Did Goa Government issue it?"
Earlier today, Tehelka managing editor Shoma Choudhary was summoned by the Goa Police, and was asked to record her statement before the police tomorrow.
