Terming the Special Investigation Team (SIT) investigating the death of Dalit boy at Gohana as "mere eyewash", former Haryana chief minister BS Hooda on Saturday demanded a judicial probe into the incident.

"The investigation carried out by the SIT is a mere eyewash, which would be inconclusive. Hence, we demand a probe by a sitting judge of the high court for the delivery of time-bound justice. The family members also want the guilty to be punished," said Hooda, adding that the family was not ready to accept that it was a suicide.

Lambasting Haryana Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar for terming the death of the boy "suicide", Hooda said, "Haryana has recorded 23 percent increase in attacks on Dalits that needs a serious reckoning."

Holding a press conference here, Hooda said the law and order in the state had deteriorated, and a delegation of Congress leader would submit a memorandum to Governor Kaptan Singh Solanki on October 28, seeking improvement in the situation.
