Former England captain and current batting coach Graham Gooch said that every England player and member of the coaching staff have their jobs on the line following their 5-0 thrashing in the Ashes.

With England defeated after just two days of the fifth and final Test in Sydney, Gooch claimed that the side needs to be rebuilt and admitted there may be more pain in store before things get better.

According to News.com.au, Gooch said everyone player and official in the England team has to look at themselves as they all are under scrutiny given their 'pretty disappointing' performances in all five Tests, although he added that they have to take whatever they are handed 'on their chins' and handle it manfully.

Stating that England may need to look for 'painful' ways to move forward and improve, Gooch also said that he thinks there would be a rebuilding process at some stage and also admitted that his position as batting coach had to be under scrutiny because of the team's continued failure to make decent scores.

The report mentioned that it has been 12 Tests since England has compiled 400 in an innings.
