England batsman Kevin Pietersen has dismissed suggestions that he might be the next player from the England squad to retire after Graeme Swann's shock exit and also expressed 'less than zero' interest in the spinner's retirement saga.
Pietersen, who notched his 100th Test during this Ashes series in Brisbane, said that he is 33 years of age and is batting as well as he has ever done, adding that he would retire when he cannot get up to play for England.
According to Sport24, the English lynchpin further said that he is good as gold at the moment and also refused to involve himself in Swann's retirement and his controversial comments, saying that he (Pietersen) is focusing on the Boxing Day Test and his interest levels in Swann's retirement saga are 'less than zero'.
Pietersen was pragmatic over suggestions that England could be entering a period of renewal after losing three Tests to Australia on the trot and conceding the Ashes with two games left to play, saying that good things do happen and England has proved that they are world-class cricketers.
Pietersen further said the Australians had played 'much better cricket' and England had been 'hurt big-time here', although he added that but team morale was not too bad and there had been some constructive talk in the dressing room ahead of Thursday's Boxing Day Test.
