Google has been reportedly asked by San Francisco Bay authorities to move its floating showroom at Treasure Island to an approved location.

The barge is still under construction and is touted to serve as the search giant's showroom and demonstration space for innovative Google X projects like Google Glass and autonomous cars.

According to Cnet, the San Francisco Bay Conservation and Development Commission said that Google must move the once-mysterious project away from the Treasure Island pier where it's been docked for months, because it doesn't have the required permits.

BCDC Executive Director Larry Goldzband said that Google must move the barge to an approved construction location.

The report said that Google would now have to both find a new place to complete construction for the Treasure Island barge and also decide upon the future of a nearly identical project that is under construction in Portland, Maine.

Meanwhile, Google released a statement saying that the company was reviewing the letter it received from the San Francisco Bay Conservation and Development Commission.
