Google's Project Ara takes a big step towards retail market as the company announced that developers will begin receiving Project Ara hardware by the end of this month.

Google's Project Ara will allow users to build on to a basic structural framework to customize their phone with different modules to design a phone with the look, capability and price that they want, Abc News reported.

The hardware itself would be a plain stackable board, on which users can put modules of their choice, making it fully customizable.

Users would be able to choose which camera they want, how the battery should be, the processor, the display, and all other features of the phone, report said.

Instead of buying new phones, users can simply swap in the modules as soon as some new technology enters market.

The hardware is expected to be priced at 50 dollars.
