Google scraps ban on sexually explicit content on Blogger

Google has changed its decision to ban sexually explicit content on Blogger as it might have a negative impact on users who post such images to express their identities, said a post on the company's product forums by Social Product Support Manager Jessica Pelegio.

According to the Verge, the company earlier banned porn and other sexually explicit images from its blogging platform and had given users a time period of 30 days to comply or get banned from hosting public blogs.

Pelegio wrote that rather than banning the content, the company decided to step up enforcement around the current policy that prohibits commercial porn.

She said that they received feedbacks from users regarding the retroactive enforcement of the policy.

The users are now required to mark the content as 'adult' so that it can be put behind an 'adult content' warning page.
