A day after the Supreme Court granted five weeks time to the Centre to decide on dissolving the Delhi Assembly "one way or the other" and paving the way for fresh elections, Congress leader Manish Tewari on Wednesday said the Government of Delhi cannot be in a state of limbo perpetually.
"The Government of Delhi cannot perpetually be in a state of limbo to the detriment of the citizens of Delhi and to benefits of a few bureaucrats who even continued to rule without any accountability," Tewari told ANI.
"Well, once the Supreme Court has directed and has given five weeks time it is upon the union of India to comply with the direction. The fact is there is a democratic structure which is in suspended animation in Delhi and there has to be way out and the way out is either there is a government which comes to an existence or there are fresh elections, he added.
The apex court's decision came following a petition filed by Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) chief Arvind Kejriwal asking for the dissolution of the assembly and fresh polls.
AAP had often alleged that the BJP will not allow the party to form a government in the national capital and are opting for divisive politics.
They also alleged that BJP was indulging in unethical practices and trying to lure lawmakers to form a government in Delhi.

Delhi is currently under Governor Rule since Kejriwal had resigned from his post within 49 days of becoming the Chief Minister.
The BJP had won 31 seats in the assembly polls in December last year but its number came down to 28 in the 70-member house after three of its legislators including Union Health Minister, Harsh Vardhan, were elected to Lower House of the Parliament.
