Canada's Governor General David Johnston has met with a Indo-Canadian Chief Executive Officers' (CEO) forum here and discussed the bilateral economic relationship as it exists currently, and the way forward.
His wife, Sharon Johnston, used her time to interact with women and children from slum areas in the nation capital.
The Canadian governor general and his wife are also scheduled to visit Agra, Bangalore and Mumbai.
Bilateral trade between India and Canada stood at 5.2 billion USD in 2011-12, with India's exports to Canada registering a 10.39 percent increase while imports from Canada dropped 12.77 percent over the same period.
In recent years India and Canada have worked to strengthen bilateral relations.
This is the first visit by Johnston since 1998 and follows the last visit of Canadian Prime Minister Stephen Harper in November 2012.
