Jammu and Kashmir Governor N.N. Vohra on Monday sent a letter to both the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and the People's Democratic Party (PDP) to clarity their respective stances on government formation in the state.
The chief minister's seat has been lying vacant for the last three weeks since the death of Mufti Mohammad Sayeed on January 7.
A core group of the BJP met this morning in Jammu to discuss the issue of government formation. The PDP meeting is scheduled to be held in Srinagar.
The PDP had earlier indicated that it might consider opting out of the alliance with the Bharatiya Janata Party if the bipartisan agenda decided upon fell short of expectations in letter and spirit.
Mehbooba had yesterday said the party will take a call on government formation as and when it was confident that the vision and mission of Mufti Mohammad Sayeed will be carried forward.
