Union Minister for Science and Technology Dr. Harsh Vardhan assured that the Central Government is committed to ensure the development of north eastern states and to make Manipur one of the most prosperous and scientifically developed one of them.
He was speaking after inaugurating a four-storeyed Vigyan Sadan in the Foundation for Environment and Economic Development Services (FEEDS) Campus at Hengbung in the Sadar Hills of Manipur's Senapati District last evening.
The minister earlier went around and saw the the laboratory, the hardening chamber and the field gene bank and conveyed his appreciation to representatives of the Orchid Research and Development Centre.
He noted the FEEDS campus at Hengbung has developed into a world class research centre even while being located at a tribal and remotest part of the country.
The union minister also committed to setting up of bio-tech park in Manipur and he discussed this issue with Chief Minister Okram Ibobi Singh, whom he later met in the evening.
