Union Housing and Urban Poverty Alleviation Minister M. Venkaiah Naidu on Wednesday stated that the Central government was committed to providing housing to all by 2022, adding that the government was also looking to make cities children-friendly and disabled-friendly.
Addressing a query during the question hour in the Lok Sabha, Naidu stated that providing housing to three crore homeless people of the country is a serious challenge, adding that the government is contemplating a new scheme of integrated housing for economically poor people.
Naidu also stated that the Centre was looking at Maharashtra as a model, adding that a slum rehabilitation and development plan is in the pipeline.
