The government on Sunday formed a committee with Parliamentary Affairs Minister M. Venkaiah Naidu as its president, to find a solution to the Jat agitation.

"A committee has been formed. Our Cabinet colleague Venkaiah Naidu is its president. The committee has been asked to submit a comprehensive report to find the solution of this problem as soon as possible. I want to appeal to the people of Haryana to help in maintaining peace and order in the state," Home Minister Rajnath Singh told the media here.

Singh expressed sympathy for the family of the deceased and sought for the cooperation of the people of Haryana in maintaining peace in the state.

"I pray that the injured recover soon. I want the cooperation of the people of Haryana to maintain peace. I want to assure that it's the government's responsibility to maintain peace in the state and the government can take strict step for that," he added.

Earlier, the Manohar Lal Khattar-led Haryana Government decided to give reservation to members of the Jat community, who have been protesting for the last seven days.

The decision in this regard was taken at a high-level meeting chaired by Rajnath Singh with the Jat leaders, who have been demanding reservation in government jobs.

BJP's Haryana in-charge Anil Jain told the media that reservation to the Jat community would be given in the upcoming assembly session.
