Samajwadi Party supremo Mulayam Singh Yadav on Tuesday lashed out at the Prime Minister Narendra Modi-led government for not taking firm steps to bring back black money from abroad, and alleged that the Centre has used this issue as a conspiracy to deceive the people.

Talking to mediapersons outside Parliament here, Mulayam said Prime Minister Modi had told the people that he would get the black money back in 100 days and use it for the nation's development.

"It has been six months now, even we thought six months should be given to the government. How much black money has come back and how much is yet to come back?" he asked.

"This government has used the black money issue as a conspiracy," he added.

The issue of black money created uproar in the Lok Sabha on the first working day of Winter Session today with the opposition parties asking the Centre to fulfill its promise of bringing it back from abroad.

As soon as the House met for the day, members from Trinamool Congress rushed to the Well holding black umbrellas with slogans like 'bring back black money' painted on them.

They were soon joined by members from the Congress, Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD), Samajwadi Party and Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) who also raised slogans demanding a response from the government as to when the black money will be brought back.
