Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) chairperson Khaleda Zia has accused the government of snatching voting rights in municipal polls on Wednesday by using the administration, law enforcers and presiding officers.
According to The Daily Star, Zia said that the government used the administration, law enforcers and presiding officers as their own party members and threatened them to work in their favour.
The BNP chief's remarks came at an address at the Institution of Engineers, Bangladesh, in Dhaka.
The programme was organised by BNP's student wing Jatiyatabadi Chhatra Dal (JCD), marking its 37th founding anniversary.
Zia said that the polls showed that free and fair election is not possible under the "Hasina-Rakib administration".
Zia also rejected the results of the polls, urging her party members not to be disappointed and assured that free and fair elections would be held in future.
