The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Thursday said the NDA Government, which believes in transparency, will abide by the Supreme Court's order with regard to the appointment of the Chief Vigilance Commissioner.

"The Attorney General has already reacted in the court. This government believes in transparency. We live by transparency. The Attorney General has rightly said that the process of appointment of CVC is only on and it is not completed and we will surely abide by what the Supreme Court decides," BJP spokesperson Sambit Patra told ANI here.

The Supreme Court has reportedly questioned the Centre on the lack of transparency in the appointment of Chief Vigilance Commissioner and Vigilance Commissioner.

The apex court said transparency is the hallmark for the selection procedure. The apex court further said the post should not be restricted to bureaucrats and people across all sections should be allowed to apply for the same.

Appearing on behalf of the Centre, Attorney General Mukul Rohatgi assured the Supreme Court that no final decision will be taken for the appointment of Chief Vigilance Commissioner during the pendency of the case.
