Nepal Prime Minister Sher Bahadur Deuba has said that his government will not hold back media under any circumstances.
Debua made these remarks at the 25th general assembly of Federation of Nepali Journalists (FNJ) in Kathmandu on Sunday.
He said his government is committed to help the media sector.
"I think it is hard to run media sector as there are lots of publications in the country," Kathmandu Post quoted PM Deuba, as saying.
Asserting that the media has played an instrumental role for democracy and republic, Dueba said the media can ensure stability in democracy by suggesting, warning and criticising the political parties.
He suggested the media and political parties to move together and take the country towards the path of prosperity.
The event was also attended by Information and Communications Minister Mohan Bahadur Basnet and FNJ Chairman Mahendra Bista.
