Home Minister Rajnath Singh on Sunday asserted that the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP)-led NDA Government won't function on the basis of religion or caste, but on the basis of 'humanity and justice'.
"Whoever thinks intolerance has increased in the country, should give us their suggestion and the government will surely consider that. Our government will not function on the basis of caste or religion but on the basis of humanity and justice," Singh told the media here.
"Targeting the Prime Minister or the government is beyond my understanding, but we are open to hearing suggestions," he added.
Earlier today Finance Minister Arun Jaitley also reiterated the government's stand that 'intolerance' was not on the rise in the country and asserted that India remains a highly tolerant and liberal society.
"There are many who have never intellectually accepted the idea of the BJP being in power. This obviously includes the Congress, many left thinkers and activists. Over decades they have practiced ideological intolerance towards BJP. They wish to project India as an intolerant society but the truth is otherwise," Jaitley said in his Facebook post.
