Ed Sheeran has emerged the winner of the Grammys in the two categories he was nominated in- 'Shape of You' for Best Pop Solo Performance and ÷ ('Divide') for Pop Vocal Album.

The 26-year-old musician, who was not present at the star-studded ceremony, bested an impressive slew of fellow nominees: Kelly Clarkson's 'Love So Soft,' Kesha's, 'Praying,' Lady Gaga's 'Million Reasons' and Pink's 'What About Us' for the Best Pop solo award.

Shut out of the most prestigious categories, Sheeran's 'Divide' was also named the year's Best Pop Vocal Album.

He went ahead to beat 'Kaleidoscope EP' by Coldplay, 'Lust For Life' by Lana Del Rey, 'Evolve' by Imagine Dragons, 'Rainbow' by Kesha and 'Joanne' by Lady Gaga in the latter.

The awards were accepted on his behalf by Gary Clark Jr. and Jon Batiste.

The nominated single broke records in 2017, topping the Billboard Hot 100 for 33 weeks, the longest run in the chart's history.

Hosted by James Corden, the Grammys are being handed out at Madison Square Garden in New York City.
