Greek Prime Minister Alexis Tsipras has threatened to resign over a snap referendum's result on the country's debt crisis, saying that he would not stay in office to oversee more cuts if Greece votes yes.

According to BBC, Tsipras said that a clear vote against austerity will help the country negotiate a better settlement to the crisis.

Greece's bailout expires on Tuesday, the same day it faces a deadline to repay a €1.6bn (£1.1bn) loan to the International Monetary Fund (IMF).

As the deadline nears, reports in Greece say that a last-minute offer was made by the creditors on Monday night.
