The 67th Independence Day was celebrated by the personnel of the paramilitary Border Security Force (BSF) deployed along the Bangladesh border by exchanging sweets and greetings with their counterparts from Border Guards Bangladesh (BGB) on Thursday.
At the Indo-Bangladesh border post in South Dinajpur in West Bengal, the Commandant of 96th Battalion of BSF, Bal Krishan hoisted the Indian National flag at a ceremonial function.
He termed this austere occasion as another step in reinforcing the bilateral ties between the two neighbours.
"On the joyful occasion of Independence Day, BSF (Border Security Force) always offers sweets to BGB (Border Guards Bangladesh). We celebrate this occasion and have organised several programmes back in the camp as well as at several other units deployed along the border," said Bal Krishan, Commandant of 96th Battalion of BSF.
On behalf of BGB, Mohammad Atahar who commands one of the units accepted the gift pack of sweets from Bal Krishan.
