The death of Salma Hayek's beloved dog has left her grief-stricken.

The 49-year-old actress recently took to Instagram to reveal the sad news that her dog, Mozart, whose body was found at her ranch, was fatally shot last week, E! Online reports.

The 'Everly' actress shared a picture of Mozart, captioning it as," I haven't posted for a week as I been mourning the death of my dog, Mozart who I personally delivered out of his mother's womb. He was found dead in my ranch last Friday with a shot close to his heart."

She continued, "I am hoping that the Washington State authorities do justice to this wonderful dog whom in 9 years never bit or attacked anyone. He loved his territory and never strayed away...he was the most loving and loyal companion. He didn't deserve a slow and painful death."

During her appearance on 'The Tonight Show' last summer, the actress revealed that she has nine dogs, whom she picks from the street.

She also claimed to have over 50 pets on her ranch, including horses and alpacas.

No further details have been released about the events that lead to Mozart's death.
