Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar on Sunday said that the Goods and Services Tax (GST) Bill was not a favourable step for Bihar, adding that the state required policy support from the Centre.

"GST is not a favorable step for Bihar. We require policy support, not one central taxation applicable to every state. Central taxation concession a must," Nitish told ANI.

The ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) had earlier held the Congress responsible for blocking the GST Bill in the Parliament, saying the opposition's demand for External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj's resignation on the Lalit-Gate was just a pretext.

The GST seeks to create a new indirect tax regime, which will comprise various central and state levies. They include sales tax, excise and services tax except taxes on the supply of alcohol for human consumption and petroleum products.
