While thousands of people across the nation are paying tributes to the 18 Indian Army soldiers, who lost their lives in the dastardly terror attack in Jammu and Kashmir's Uri region, a businessman from Gujarat's Surat city has come forward to financially support the kids of those martyred in the ghastly attack.
Mahesh Savani of P.P. Savani Group has decided to look after the education of the children of those martyred. He will look after their education till graduation and will also take the whole responsibility of the marriage of the daughters of the martyred.
Savani says he got emotionally touched while watching the young daughter of one of the soldiers crying on television.
"I read on paper and heard a daughter of the Uri braveheart in one of the television shows. We have decided that we will sponsor the education of all the children of the 18 martyrs," Savani told ANI.
"Besides this, we will also bear all the cost for the marriage of their daughters. We will ask the government to tell us the details of their families and their addresses and then a five-member team from our group will go to their respective houses," he added.
Meanwhile, thousands of people from 111 different institutions from Surat yesterday gathered to pay their tribute to the Uri bravehearts.
Various Doctor's Associations, Rotary Club, Lioness Club and various other such institutions had organised a "maun rally" paying tributes to the soldiers who martyred while serving the country.
In one of the worst attack in recent times, at least 18 soldiers lost their lives and over 20 others got injured post the terror strike on an army camp close to the headquarters of the 12th Brigade at Uri in Baramulla district.
