Congress party workers distributed free masks and medicines to residents in Gujarat as a precautionary measure to fight swine flu.
More than 11,000 people, including children, reportedly took part in the campaign organised by the party on Saturday.
"I request BJP to play the politics later. Today it is our responsibility to save people's life. They should come out and distribute medicines, set up quarantine wards in every district, doctors to be trained and arrange for vaccination," said Congress leader, Arjun Modhwadia.
In Jaipur, people also performed a prayer ceremony seeking blessings to help combat the disease.
Meanwhile, Union Health Minister, J P Nadda, during his visit at a hospital in Siddharth Nagar district in Uttar Pradesh urged people to take immediate precautionary measures.

"One method is that one should take self precautionary measures to fight against swine flu and the other way is that the patients have to be taken to hospital at the right time so that they receive treatment and are saved," said Nadda.
Swine flu deaths have seen a sharp rise in many states this year. Nearly 700 lives have been claimed in the country due to the disease. Almost 200 lives have been lost to the deadly virus in Gujarat itself.
In view of the swine flu rush, the central government last week had placed an order to increase the national stock of diagnostic kits to test for the virus.
Authorities are also procuring additional masks and doses of the anti-viral drug Oseltamivir.
