Congress candidate Vansh Bhimabhai on Monday defeated Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) candidate Haribhai Solanki from Una constituency with a margin of 4,928 votes.
While Bhimabhai secured 72,775 votes, Solanki got 67,847 votes.
Bhimbhai is the current sitting Member of Legislative Assembly (MLA), who had beaten BJP's Kalubhai Chanabhai Rathod by 7,507 votes in 2012 elections.
The Congress has enjoyed a stronghold in Una as party legislators have been elected nine out of the 12 times in the assembly elections in Gujarat since 1962.
Una Assembly seat represents all villages of the taluka, except Kansariya, Jamvala, Bhakha, Thordi, Babariya, Sanvav, Jaragli, Ankolali, Panderi, Dhrabavad, Velakot, Jhanjhariya, Sonpura, Bhiyal, Bodidar, Kaneri, Maghardi, Ambavad, Kanakiya, Simasi, Ranvasi, Bhebha, Madhgam, Revad, Lerka, Chikhli, Sokhda, Kajardi, Kob, Bhingran and Tad.
There are 2,33,334 registered voters in Una Assembly constituency.

Una came to light last year when on July 11, some Dalits were allegedly blamed for killing a cow and were brutally thrashed by local cow vigilantes.
The incident led to nationwide protests against the atrocities over Dalits.
The anger was faced by the BJP which is ruling in the state as well as the Centre.
