ANI Washington

The police headquarters in Dallas, Texas came under attack early on Saturday morning local time.

The BBC is reporting that at least one gunman opened fire on the police headquarters before fleeing from the scene in an armoured van.

The suspect was also involved in a standoff in a car park.

It is now being reported that he was shot dead.

Earlier, reports said that several suspicious packages were found outside the police headquarters, including two bags containing explosives that detonated.

Though no one has been hurt in the attack, its motive is being probed.

Dallas Police Chief David Brown was quoted as telling local media that only one was involved in the attack, and not four as was earlier believed.

The police headquarters and a police car were hit by bullets, but no one was injured, Brown said.
